Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations show the substance was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A high-ranking political figure said the incident rendered him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
